Windows 8.1 Installation |
If your desktop/laptop has an older
version of Windows, like Windows XP/Vista/7 and if you want
to install Windows 8.1 in your desktop/laptop, this tutorial
will help you to install Windows 8.1 in your system.
--> Processor:
1 GHz or faster
--> RAM:
1 GB for 32-bit (x86) or 2 GB for 64-bit (x64)
--> Hard Disk Space: 16 GB free space for 32-bit or 20 GB free space for 64-bit
--> Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 or higher graphics driver
--> Hard Disk Space: 16 GB free space for 32-bit or 20 GB free space for 64-bit
--> Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 or higher graphics driver
Precautions
before installing Windows 8.1
--> Backup
your PC data.
--> Set
boot priority from CD-ROM and USB flash drive.
--> Download
the ISO file of Windows 8.1 or you will have to buy
the Windows 8.1 installation disk.
Things
needed to install Windows 8.1
--> ISO
image of Windows 8.1.
--> Windows
8.1 installation disk or Windows 8.1 bootable Pen drive.
--> Product
key of Windows 8.1.
Windows 8.1
Installation
Step 1: Shut
down or Restart your desktop/laptop.
Step 2:
After restart, immediately press the key (Del, Esc, F2, F10, F9, etc.) set by
the manufacturer of your mother board.
Note: Some
computers tell you which button to press to enter the BIOS as the computer
startup.
Step 3: Select
Advanced BIOS features and hit the enter key.
Step 4: Set
CD or DVD-ROM as first boot device of your computer system or set
USB or Removable drives as first boot device of your
computer system.
Step 5: Now,
Save your BIOS Settings.
Step 6: Restart
your desktop/laptop with the Windows 8.1 installation disk in
your optical drive or with properly configured Windows 8.1 USB Pen
drive.
Step 7: After
Restart, the message “Press any key to boot from CD or DVD…..” or “Press
any key to boot from external device…..” will appear. Press any key
from the keyboard to continue the installation.
Step 8:
Windows 8.1 will start to boot up and you will see a screen
with a rotating progress bar.
Step 9: The
next screen allows you to setup your language, time and currency format,
keyboard or input method. Choose your required settings and click
Next to continue.
Step 10: The
next screen allows you to Install or Repair Windows. Now, click Install
Now.
Step 11: Now,
enter your Product key and click Next button.
Step 12: Read
the license terms and check “I accept license terms”, then click Next
button to continue.
Step 13: Now,
choose the type of installation you want.
Note:
If you want
to Upgrade your system, then select Upgrade option.
If you want
to Clean Installation, then select Custom (advanced) option.
Step 14: Now,
choose where you would like to install Windows 8.1.
Note:
If you want
to install Windows 8.1 on C: drive, then select it and click on Format.
If you want
to create New partitions, then delete your old partitions by clicking on
Delete and then click on New. Now, choose the size of the partition
and click Apply. Now, select it and click on Format.
Step 15: Select
the formatted partition and click Next to continue.
Step 16: At
this stage, Windows starts to copy files to your hard disk and
begins the installation.
Note: This
process might take a few minutes depending on your system speed.
Step 17: When
all the necessary files are copied, Windows 8.1 will automatically restart.
Step 18: After
restart, you will go through various progress bars and information
messages. Windows might restart automatically second time.
Step 19: “Let’s
go through a few basics” screen will appear. It will
automatically select Personalize option.
Step 20: Give
the PC Name and choose the Personalize color.
Step 21: Now,
choose express settings or choose customize.
Step 22: Sign
in to your PC. Here, you can login to your PC
using a Microsoft email account, such as your Hotmail account.
Note:
If you don’t
have a Microsoft account, you can create one by clicking Sign
up for a new email address.
If you don’t
want to create an email account and prefer to create a local user
name, click “Sign In without a Microsoft account.”
Step 23: Click
local account.
Step 24: Now,
choose a User name and Password and click Finish to
continue.
Step 25: At
this stage, Windows starts to finalize your settings. Now, wait
for some time to finalize your settings.
Step 26: After
this, Windows will install some important Settings and Apps
for you.
After all Settings
and Apps are installed, your system is now ready for use.
